European Charter for Sustainable Tourism
CETS
The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Natural Areas (CETS) is an initiative of the EUROPARC Federation, an organisation that brings together protected natural areas from 38 European countries.
EUROPARC is the managing body that grants CETS membership to protected areas where it verifies that there is a commitment to apply the principles of sustainable tourism. It is a voluntary method and commitment; CETS guides managers of protected natural areas and tourism companies to define their development strategies in a joint and participatory manner.
This, with the aim
– to increase knowledge about the protected area and, at the same time, support its preservation so that it can be enjoyed by present and future generations.
– to improve the sustainable development and tourism management of the protected area and its area of influence, taking into account the needs of the environment, of the population and local companies and visitors.
– and to involve local companies in a common sustainable tourism project.
“CETS” member companies are companies that stand out for their voluntary commitment to the sustainable development of the territory. We try to strengthen relations with the institutions that manage tourism in the region, contributing to and influencing the tourist development of the area.
As a CETS company, we have gone through a process supervised by the “Europarc” Federation, guaranteeing that our management, our product and services are in line with the principles of sustainability.
“CETS” companies are committed to working for continuous improvement in the management and environmental performance of the company, supporting local development and heritage conservation.
In our town we have about 35 “CETS” member- companies, offering a wide variety of eco-tourism services, with a lot of attention to sustainability. We recommend any of these companies for your sustainable holidays!
Among others, we highlight almost all the diving centres, almost all the hotels and a large part of the restaurants and activity-companies in l’Estartit!
